Positioned at the bottom end of a sloping street, this beautiful, two-storey double fronted terrace house is constructed with a blend of red brick and white stucco to the front and London stock brick at the rear of the property, with a concrete tiled roof.
The house sits at a higher elevation than the neighbouring garden to the right, and slightly lower than the property to the right. Both neighbouring properties have completed rear extensions.
The modifications aimed to update the property to meet contemporary living standards, catering to the needs of the family.
The single-story infill extension, features a double pitched roof, carefully designed so as not to adversely affect neighbouring properties. The shape of the building area was designed so that the extension would result in no loss of soil /plants / greenery.
The previous position of the kitchen was detached from the rest of the home, existing within the small and weathered outrigger. The new extension creates a more sociable kitchen and dining area, establishing a stronger connection to the garden, while also ensuring improved thermal comfort, energy efficiency and light.
The repositioning of the ground floor WC from its previous position, outside, to within the main build of the property, allows the residents and guests to comfortably visit the restroom without having to go upstairs or venture outside.
While the extension is relatively modest, its impact has been transformative to the arrangement and use of the back of the home.
